This week in Nursery, we have continued with our story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. The children have become very confident at re-enacting the story and sharing key phrases from the story, such as “We can’t go over it! We can’t go under it! Oh no! We’ve got to go through it!” The children had great fun acting out the story on the field, squelching through the mud in their wellies and pretending to walk through the ‘swishy swashy grass’. Their favourite part was being chased by Harry the bear!
The children used paint and rollers to recreate the forest scenes from the book and during messy play, the children explored rainbow rice with hidden textures inside. The children enjoyed using tweezers to pick out the different textures and correctly match them up with their picture. Using tweezers is a really great way to help children develop their fine motor skills, which will help them with their writing skills when they are ready to start learning to write.
